Trip to Rochester, NY

Despite the tired, disgruntled children in the photo, Bobby and I were happy to of finally arrived in upstate NY for Meredith's wedding!

Meredith looked fabulous! And she was surprisingly as calm as a cucumber for it being her wedding day.

All of the colors she and Curtis chose for the wedding were fitting for fall. (Especially for on this blustery fall day!)

This is the Palmyra Temple where they were married. It is small, quaint, and beautiful.

The girls checking out the grounds.

It was great--instead of having a wedding cake, Meredith and Curtis asked a couple friends and family to bring a cake for everyone to enjoy. Then they were decorated with her flowers. We brought the one with the hazelnuts on top. Bringing a cake 6 hours in a car is another story!

We were thrilled to see Tiffany and Jeff there, too. Caroline wanted Jeff to watch her everytime she was on the dance floor.

And of course, Daddy and Caroline taking the cake down!

Talk about moves! I need her to teach me...

The Talk of the Town

Everyone's talking about it. See for yourself. (If you didn't know, Johanna is signing "baby" in the video.)

So now you know. We're expecting another baby Shiffler! Due June 13th. Food is a bad word these days, but ultrasound photos are sure to remedy that. Coming soon to a blog near you!

Apple Printing Day

It was so enjoyable having you all over for apple printing day! I was impressed how unique everyone's projects were. Some printed onto shirts, some into stationary, some bags, and some wood boards.

Thanks for coming!

(Forgive me for the blurry photos--I was using a different camera and the settings were off!)

Here's the recipe for the pumpkin bread.

Notice, although blurry, how happy you all are "creating." I LOVE these photos! They're my favorite.

And baby Alan and Owen, thanks for sitting through all the girl talk!

Project Tuesday

This week Christina and Lynn joined me for this name board project. Try it.

1. Go to Lowes, find a 2 x 4 and have them cut it for you, in 3 varying lengths of your choice for you to display. (You can make 3-4 sets with one standard length 2 x 4 and it was only $3. 19!)

2. Lightly sand. Paint two coats of your choice of color. Find the perfect font for the text, print the exact size for the boards.

3. Take the printed text, flip over and trace (outline)the back of the text with a pencil. (I put the paper against a window and trace with the light coming through.)

4. Take the text, right side facing you, and position on your board and tape in place. Then take the pencil and rub over the text. It will leave an imprint on the board. (Ellie, you taught me this!)

5. Find a small paintbrush to suit your font difficulty and paint!

6. You can rough up the edges to antique when finished, and embellish as you please.

Curly Girl

I'm sure many of you would thank my cousin's wife, Banna, for her introducing me to the doing-your-daughter's-hair world that I have rarely in the past visited.

Our family recently visited my cousin, Scott, and his wife, Banna, outside Philly. Banna and I talked her crafts, and then she showed me this great FOE (fold over elastic) that you can simply hot glue to make headbands.

No more hair in the face for Curly Caroline. Now I'm just trying to be consistent with actually doing something with her hair daily. Banna, I need more ideas...
